Standards and Metrology Institute
Standards Development – By virtue of its founding law, the Standards and Metrology Institute (SMI) acts as the National Standards Body. It has the power to develop and publish Maltese Standards following international Standards writing practices. This work is carried out through Technical Committees.
Standards Adoption - The MCCAA Act (ACT No. VI of 2011) gives power to SMI to adopt regional and international standards. Adoption follows internationally accepted practices.
Standards Library - SMI has a standards library where the public can view any European (EN), International (ISO/IEC), Maltese and British standards. Library is open from Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 12:00pm. Tuesday and Thursday also in the afternoon between 2:00pm and 3:30pm. For more information contact the Librarian on (+356) 2395 2000.
Sale of Standards - Maltese standards, international and national standards can be purchased from the Standardization Directorate. Pure ISO standards can be purchased directly online by clicking button below. To purchase European (EN and EN ISO) standards, please contact the Librarian on (+356) 2395 2000.

SMI Users Group
An SMI Users Group consisting of companies, individuals and other entities having an interest in Standardization work has been established. Members of this group receive benefits such discounts on Maltese standards, attendance to seminars, conferences and training courses organised by the MCCAA. The membership scheme is given as follows:
SMI User Group annual subscription fee is €120.00.
