This week, the MCCAA had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) for a productive and insightful visit, focused on organic regulation and certification.
The visit included an on-site tour of the premises of a certified organic operator during which, the delegation, consisting of representatives from the GSA’s Drugs, Cosmetics and Forensics Department, the Food and Drinks Laboratory, and the Special Projects Unit, were provided a first-hand experience of Malta’s organic farming practices. The site visit was followed by an information session on Regulation (EU) 2018/848, which governs organic production and organic products labelling in the EU.
The discussion on operational experiences and exchange of best practices, rendered the information session an ideal platform to explore and consider potential future opportunities for cooperation between the MCCAA and the GSA in the field of organic certification and standardisation.
Special thanks go to the GSA and the members of the delegation for their invaluable contributions, which made this visit a success!
