Dear Michael, we lost you, but we will never forget you...
The Authority has lost one of its long-standing Directors Ing. Michael Cassar, Director Market Surveillance following a sudden and untimely death.
Michael pioneered market surveillance, having served as Head of Market Surveillance Directorate since 2008 with then formerly known as Malta Standards Authority. In 2011, he was appointed as Director of Market Surveillance within the Technical Regulations Division of the newly established Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority.
On November 2017, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of PROSAFE, which is a non-profit professional organisation for market surveillance authorities and officers from throughout the EEA. Its primary objective is to improve the safety of users of products and services in Europe.
Michael was greatly respected by both his colleagues and his counterparts from other European Countries. He was a pillar of strength to his team, providing constant guidance and support, both professionally and personally. His loss will be greatly felt.
Dear Michael, we lost you, but we will never forget you. Our prayers are with your family who you loved so dearly.
