The MCCAA is appointed as the market surveillance authority for various product safety legislation.  ‘market surveillance authority’ means an authority designated by a Member State as responsible for carrying out market surveillance in the territory of that Member State.  The authority was appointed through CAP 510 Part VI of the Maltese legislation.

The legislation assigned to the market surveillance authority can be found through CAP 427 of the Maltese legislation.
