In terms of regulation 5(4) of the Control of Concentrations Regulations, 2002 published in Legal Notice 294 of 2002, the Director General of the Office for Competition notifies for general information that a notification of a concentration between BG Consumer & Healthcare Limited (St Venera) and Mortar Limited (St Julians) was filed on Friday, 1 December 2023.

The nature of the concentration is the acquisition by BG Consumer & Healthcare Limited of Mortar Limited.

BG Consumer & Healthcare Limited is a holding company that forms part of the group of companies of Francis Busuttil & Sons Limited. The group is involved primarily in the manufacture, distribution and export of food and beverage. It is also an importer and distributor of fast-moving consumer goods.

Mortar Limited, is a holding company, with shares in Alfred Gera & Sons Limited, Consolidated Packaging Limited, M.M.V. Limited and Melita Retailers Limited. The companies are involved primarily in the importation and distribution of pharmaceuticals and the operation of pharmacies and in the importation and distribution of retail items such as personal care and food products.

The Director General of the Office for Competition invites interested third parties to submit their written objections on this notified concentration within seven days following publication of this notice at the following address:
